Goal
Write a thesis that doubled as a graphic essay.

For my thesis, I chose to explore the history of graffiti. Exploration and research into the topic took me from rudimentary stone engravings of territory demarcation to mid-20th-century wartime symbols of community, to the latest of graffiti’s flashy exemplars. Because of the inherent graphic quality of graffiti, I found that graffiti lent itself well to complementing print media, another form of typography. Therefore, I explored this potential to create the cover and spreads of my “magazine”.

The completion of this project not only honed my skills in print design, but also allowed me to practice the organization and presentation of a rich dense body of writing within a primarily graphic style.
